Rap-style Protest to Vietnam Banning Facebook
Dec 29, 2009
In the runup to the Communist Party Congress, Vietnam last week charged Le Cong Dinh, a prominent human rights lawyer, with capital crimes.
This comes a month after Hanoi started what may be its biggest crackdown on Social Media.
Following China’s lead, Vietnam’s government has asked ISPs to start shutting down Facebook. Far from China’s highly centralized and quite effective shutdown, not all ISPs have implemented and the workarounds are still pretty easy. (No proxy needed, just fiddle with DNS codes)
Nonetheless, a “Bring Back Facebook” movement has started and recently published this funny rap video on YouTube.
