For more than a century, many of the greatest French scholars and writers devoted themselves to exploring and understanding the mysteries of Southeast Asia. For decades, François Doré has painstakingly sought their works to assemble his extraordinary literary collection.

On a recent Thai trip I made two pilgrimages to the Librairie and found François to be an exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly host. If you seek books on Indochina (and an informed opinion on those books) there is no better destination in the world.

NOTE ON NEW LOCATION - François has moved the Librairie to a larger location just a few minutes walk from the Ploenchit Skytrain stop. Visits are by appointment.
