<p>CNN Wire News Editor<br />
The CNN Wire is on the frontline of distilling and distributing CNN’s editorial content.  Working within the Hong Kong Bureau, the Hong-Kong based CNN Wire news editor will harvest and shape information in a key region.   </p>
<p>Job Responsibilities:</p>
<p>The CNN Wire news editor is responsible to do primary reporting by phone, process bureau and field reports and write or copy edit news copy on very tight deadlines suitable for broadcast and online distribution.   Primary focus is breaking news, updating and fleshing out the big stories of the day.</p>
<p>Other duties include monitoring and reporting on live news events, working with news sources and reporters over the phone, editing, rewriting or condensing, and vetting bureau and reporter entries, checking out news tips and coordinating with show producers to ensure that their needs are prioritized appropriately at the CNN Wire. </p>
<p>The CNN Wires news editor further acts as an editorial tripwire on issues of sourcing and ethics issues.  On sensitive stories, the CNN Wire news editor will be asked to prepare legal and standards-approved copy to set the tone for the News Group.   The news editor also publishes stories developed by the CNN Wire team directly to the CNN.com website.</p>
<p>Requirements:</p>
<p>· A seasoned journalist with solid experience in reporting and writing as well as computer and internet skills.  Copy editing and/or Assignment Desk experience also helpful.   New media knowledge a plus.</p>
<p>· Must have a broad knowledge of and interest in business and international news of the region and be eager to develop a working knowledge of other Hong Kong Bureau functions, CNN newsroom operations and the needs and routine of CNN TV, Radio and Web.</p>
<p>· Uncompromising standards of accuracy, excellent communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude are required. Fluency in a second language is considered a significant plus.</p>

<p>His CV includes serving as President, Time Inc Asia (1995); Publisher, Time Asia (1993); Managing director, Fortune Asia (1992);  Managing director, Seavex (1986).</p>
<p>Mr. Marcopoto earned a BA from Seton Hall University and arrived in Asia in 1981. He has served as chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, where he is now an Ex-Officio Governor. He has also served as Chairman of the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) and as a board member of the Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA). He is on the Board of Governors of the American Club in Hong Kong.</p>
