Alex is currently the regional business director, based in Ogilvy Shanghai. In his capacity, he runs IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) and UPS (United Parcel Services), two of the biggest and latest addition to Ogilvy’s global brand community.
In 2009, Alex worked on IBM, Ogilvy’s largest client in Asia and the world. His role focuses on helping local countries, in Asia-Pacific and IBM-defined growth markets such as Brazil, Russia, Eastern Europe, to establish and fine-tune demand generation programs that build brand and drive sales.
Before relocating to Shanghai, Alex spent 7 years in OgilvyOne KL and was responsible to grow the Malaysian office in client, revenue, profit and talent. OgilvyOne Malaysia is now one of the fastest growing and most profitable offices in Ogilvy network and Asia.
A strong believer in Direct, Digital and CRM, Alex enjoys the challenges of helping clients such as DHL, Maxis, Guinness and Diageo mastering the art of digital 1-to-1 customer engagement. He is particularly proud about the RM programs done for Guinness and DHL, which won numerous marketing effectiveness and creative awards globally and regionally, and subsequently led to OgilvyOne’s appointment as Diageo RM and Digital agency in Asia.
Prior to Ogilvy, Alex worked mostly in consulting and business development capacity in a regional marketing services group. As the branch manager/ consultant, he was responsible for the entire Malaysian branch sales and operations, which includes a client servicing team, database management team and a 50-seat call center. He was directly responsible for consulting and client servicing for major clients like Microsoft, Compaq and Citibank.
Alex has over 14 years’ experience in Direct & Digital Marketing and has since been active in local Direct & Digital Marketing arena.
