Blog Wants War Reporters and Foreign Correspondents

Any war reporters or foreign correspondents looking to raise their profile within the blogosphere? This may be the ticket! (Does not appear to pay, but has led to job offers)

Thomas,

I work for the Frontline Club, a journalism charity based in London, and I’m looking to expand the number of blogs we host at www.fromthefrontline.co.uk to around 30-40. Frontline bloggers are mostly drawn from foreign correspondents, war reporters and freelance journalists - some highly experienced, some relatively new to journalism - although we are also talking to a number of non-journalists about blogging with us. The basic premise is to give ‘interesting people in interesting places a platform to talk about interesting things’ - anything from the price of fish in the market in Mogadishu to unraveling the complexities of the conflict in Darfur.

Many of the bloggers who currently blog at fromthefrontline have featured on TV, radio and in national newspapers as a result of their blogs. Most have received offers of work, including Frontline Club founder/war reporter/camera man Vaughan Smith, who produced a sixteen minute documentary from Helmand province, Afghanistan for BBC Newsnight on the back of his blog. You can see his documentary here: http://tinyurl.com/5ot299 His blog also received a Media Guardian Innovation Award earlier in 2008.

We are about to launch a completely revamped blog and very web2 blog site and main website - www.frontlineclub.com built by Headhsift.com. I am looking for journalists/bloggers who would be interested in becoming part of the frontline blog network. We already have journalists based in Argentina, Venezuela, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, Afghanistan and Kenya who will start blogging once the new site is launched. If you know anyone who might be interested in becoming part of this network, do please pass on this email.

All the best
