I’m guessing because of the extraordinary political climate, new freedoms and growth of these new atomised and networked technologies with new found wealth and confidence gives the Chinese; mostly the youth, the opportunity to ‘join the conversation’, participate, have their voice heard, as they never had before and maybe have a small effect in their world. This is unprecedented in these new younger generations. With the explosive growth of quite literally everything off and online, the Chinese are craving western aspirations, like fame and wealth and are looking to their celebrities as great examples this especially in their endorsement in all forms of advertising.
