Cheap Hong Kong Hotels (Semi-affordable)

Here’s a list of reasonably priced Hong Kong hotels that I recommend to my entrepreneur friends who prefer to deploy their company resources in places other than rooms with panoramic views of Hong Kong harbor that they never have time to enjoy.

I will periodically update this list when friends want or offer hotel recommendations. If you are a similarly-priced Hong Kong hotel savvy enough to follow blogs, feel free to leave your details below. Also, if your hotel is listed here and something is incorrect, let me know.

UPDATE: Here’s a list of even cheaper places compiled by the blogger Fili.

Amazing how many of these hotels do not have Internet!!

Prices (which I do NOT guarantee) valid as of 14 April 2009.

- Ice House HKD1200 + 10% for a 320 sq ft studio. A personal favorite. Actually a serviced apartment, Ice House is good value and near the Foreign Correspondents’ Club. When I last stayed there, rooms did not have Internet, but there were numerous open Wifi signals to catch.

  • Hongkong is a good place to go backpack traveling and Hotelbackpacker.com can offer assistance to all travelers especially backpackers to find cheap accommodation, and more.
  • the Royal Park in Sha Tin can also be cheaper, HKD1000/night; & can get cheaper if you stay a week or more. Though if you're working in Central it would be a long commute everyday; basically the first place to stay if you're coming from Shenzhen.

  • come on
entrpreneurs should not be staying at stuff as nice and expesnive as excelsior...

You should consider adding some of the fine establishments in Chunking Mansions to your list, such as the Paris Guesthouse..

CTSHK's http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http://Qmango.com may be useful, which is a hostel-booking website aiming at backpackers & tourists. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http://tinyurl....

Island Pacific in Western gets OK reports....good wandering among the dry fish shops as well for an authentically pongy Asia experience.

Courtyard by Marriott in Sai Ying Pun was quoting me HK$750 per night late last year... Fairly recently renovated and the price is low possibly due to the location.

Also Metropark hotel on Tung Lo Wan Road just to the south of Victoria Park has rooms just over HK$1000 each... very cool rooftop swimming pool too (closed when I went there) There is a cross-border bustop just outside so there are plenty of mainland tour groups.

  • The good thing about Hong Kong is that the neighbors of hotels often offer free internet. That is not how it should be, but it helps.

Eaton on Nathan Road. US$130 when I stayed there last year. Also Novotel CityGate has good deals occasionally (US$108). I am not sure if these prices are current though.
  • BP Intl Hotel - http://www.bpih.com.hk/ I've always had 1 or 2 bedroom rooms, but I've seen bunkbeads in some rooms. all rooms have bathroom, their all clean, & safe. but no frills....also the A21 bus is on the corner. This is owned by the boy scouts of HK
