Davos Panel Prep: Asia’s digital ecosystems

Jan 21, 2009

In addition to the privacy panel I blogged about earlier, another Davos panel in which I will participate is about Asia’s digital ecosystems.

The panel is extremely eminent, but I particularly look forward to seeing Jun Murai again. He has fascinating perspectives and insights into the underlying direction of Internet development.

Once again, I solicit your suggestions and ideas.

The topic: What differentiates Asia’s digital ecosystem from the West and what is driving its evolution?

Led by Michelle Guthrie, Hong Kong-based managing director of Providence Equity Asia, the panelists include:

- Calvin Chin, Chief Executive Officer, Qifang Inc., People’s Republic of China
- Jun Murai, Vice-President, Professor, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Keio University, Japan
- Takeshi Natsuno, Professor, Keio University, Japan
- Cher Wang, Chair, HTC-VIA, Taiwan, China

I have started a Delicious tag asiadigital any thoughts/links most welcome!

  • Good luck! This sounds like it will be a great conversation.

  • Wow this is a great topic! Mobile / Web / Online games / Virtual goods / E-commerce... so much to say on this ^_^ The point of "ecosystem innovation" and pragmatic combination or incremental innovation rather than the technical breakthrough the West affectionates (along the myth of the lonely genius) are really interesting. I am thinking that in the case of China, it could be possible to argue that copycats actually stimulate innovation (which would bring interesting controversy) ;-)
