I was on a Celebrity Cruise line last year and was unable to visit this part of shanghai because of that bridge, and I doubt the bridge will removed anytime soon. It’s such a shame mistakes like this happen and I’d imagine it may eventually become a larger problem for tourism in Shanghai than it seems now.

I will be departing on the Dawn Princess [77,000 tons] ex Shanghai next month & have been told that it will be berthed at Waigaoqiao terminal. This contradicts your statement that only ships in excess of 87,000 tons cannot get under "the Bridge"
However, I find it difficult to find detail of available transport to that terminal, given that I will be a stranger to the city. What advice can you offer? Thank you.
Brian N.

I am sure they will find a solution to this, build another path for cruise ships or change the design of the current path. Cruise ships are designed to be bigger, we need to think about this aspect for the future.
